Sunday, April 7, 2013 @ 6:29 PM This post is overdue since blocks ended on Thursday 3 days ago but anyhoo YAY! Composition was kinda stressful because Mr Laycock kept looking over our shoulders to scrutinise the chords that we used and probably check on our progress, a few mins at each time. I feel like I'm being judged every time he comes over to my little corner and analyses my work. The extract which we had to harmonise this time round was both manageable yet challenging so I'm using chords mostly based on intuition. >< In past experiences he has nagged at me for my weird chord choices while at other times he commends on the good range or use of particular chords. It can go either way, really. But I've tried my best, so I've got no regrets (:HCSE is going to republic poly tomorrow for a soundcheck prior to SYF. SYF is in 12 days :O I still cannot fathom how close 19 April is and I'm really stoked for it! I have a post dedicated to post-SYF thoughts coming up so, for anyone who still reads this blog, you can look forward to it pretty soon! This will be the 3rd SYF that I will be participating in and frankly, this is the one I look forward to the most. SNSO's SYF is one day before ours, on 18 April. Really hope they'll buck up and do whatever they can to play their very best. The journey hasn't been easy for them - internal problems within the ExCo, lack of communication between the presidents and the orchestra as well as juniors with attitude problems and creating a lot of trouble for everyone. Doing well is definitely not a problem for them so I hope they'll come back with certificate of distinction! I wish I could see their performance but I have school so I have to cheer for them from the sidelines in HC ): That's it for now, until next time! |
