The Great Escape

Okay Saturday's lesson did not turn out as I had expected.

First thing, my mom and I first decided that it is better off for me to stick to the viola, with all the previous training and still I am doing quite well in the Orchestra. Changing instrument to the violin is a big change, not in terms of the instrument but the tough competition and difficulty level that I have to overcome. If I can't catch up, I may not even be able to participate in SYF!

But Mr. Sze was really hard into me taking the violin. I offered to get a smaller viola but he just said that it's the same as getting a violin [size] and the sound would not be as deep and hollow. "Violas are supposed to be big and players need to make the violinists envy due to the really hollow sound. You can't produce that!!! Why would you waste your money?!"

For the whole lesson I played the violin. Sheesh.
He also made me bring back the Grade 3 violin book of exam pieces to play for him next week.

I told him about the competition I will face with the violinists (who are experienced!) and he just told me to get the score and try. No exeptions. He told that unless it was too difficult to handle, I would play the violin from then onwards.

Anyone has a Suzuki Book 3 for the violin? If you have please email me and we can make arrangements? I need it for my lesson next week. PLEASE EMAIL ME!

I seriously need a break from all this anxiety.
